Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - School Staffing.

Chris Flood

Ceist:

174 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if she has received an application for sanction of an additional teacher for Scoil Rois (details supplied), Balrothery, Tallaght, Dublin 24, in order to accommodate a number of children on 1997's waiting list; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8947/97]

The school to which the Deputy refers has recently applied to my Department for the appointment of an additional assistant teacher from the commencement of the 1997-98 school year.

The case made by the school is currently being examined by my Department's primary inspectorate.

Ceist:

176 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if she has received an application from St. Thomas' senior primary school, Jobstown, Tallaght, Dublin 24, for the appointment of teacher to work specifically with dyslexic children; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that there are a number of children attending this school in need of such special teacher support; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8950/97]

My Department has not received any application from the school referred to by the Deputy for the appointment of a teacher to work specifically with dyslexic children.

I understand that the school authorities are currently considering their needs in this area and whether to apply for the establishment of a special class in the school.
