Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Registration of Title.

Willie O'Dea

Ceist:

220 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Justice when a dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick will be completed by the Land Registry. [8782/97]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 4 October 1996. Preliminary queries issued to the lodging solicitor on 7 April 1997. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time at this stage.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 6 March 1995. Following a response on 7 March 1997 to queries made to the lodging solicitors, a further query recently issued on outstanding matters and a reply is awaited. The matter cannot proceed until the query raised has been satisfactorily discharged and it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage.
