Inmates in Shelton Abbey are allowed to use the institution's telephones to make one telephone call per week in order to maintain contact with family and friends. An inmate may, with the approval of the governor, be allowed to make additional telephone calls if it is considered that circumstances justify these calls. Inmates are allowed to receive telephone calls after 5.30 p.m.
In addition arrangements are being made at present for the installation of a cardphone in the Shelton Abbey for use by inmates. Callcards for this telephone will be on sale in the tuck shop.
