Vol. 477 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle:

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Joe Walsh. I call on Deputy Walsh to state the matter of which he has given notice.

I wish to move the Adjournment of the Dáil to discuss an urgent matter of public importance, namely, the need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to take remedial action to protect farmers' livelihoods in view of the crash in cattle, beef and milk prices.

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle:

The matter, having been considered fully, is not one contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, leave cannot be granted to move the motion.

It is a serious matter.
