The holder of a special restaurant licence is permitted to sell intoxicating liquor on weekdays between 12.30 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. on the following morning and on Sundays between 12.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. and between 6.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m. Section 22 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988 prohibits the grant of a special exemption order in respect of a premises to which a special restauarant licence attaches.
Special restaurant licences are granted by the Revenue Commissioners on production of special restaurant certificates granted in the Circuit Court. I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the fee for the first licence is £3,000. Subsequent renewal applications are then made annually to the Revenue Commissioners, together with a renewal fee of £200.12.
