Vol. 477 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Mary Wallace

Ceist:

189 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the proposed extension to Ashbourne community school, County Meath; if she will give details of the position in relation to accommodation for the September 1997 intake; and if she will give details in relation to the provision of a permanent extension; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9571/97]

Architectural planning for the proposed extention to Ashbourne community school, County Meath is proceeding and the planning and building unit of my Department is awaiting the submission of the outline sketch scheme.

Every effort will be made to have the planning completed as soon as possible. However at this early stage, it is not possible to indicate when construction will commence.

With regard to the provision of temporary accommodation for September 1997 it is necessary for the design team architect to confirm that the proposed location for the prefabs is acceptable and will not result in any cost implications for the Department or interfere with the temporary access for the proposed extension. When this has been confirmed, the matter will be progressed further.
