Ceist:198 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education when an assessment will be held for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo, who is in need of remedial teaching, in view of the fact that he has waited some time. [9628/97]

I am aware of the case referred to by the Deputy. I understand that the child in question has already been assessed by the relevant health authorities.
My Department is currently considering how the special educational needs of the child in question can best be addressed.
