Vol. 477 No. 5

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grants.

John Ellis

Ceist:

234 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 has been refused a third-level grant in view of the fact that the course referred to was not second attendance as excluded under clause 7 (6) of the 1996 scheme. [9857/97]

Under clause 7 (6) of the higher education grants scheme a student may not be awarded a grant in respect of a second period of college attendance at the same level, irrespective of whether or not a grant was paid previously.

The student in question has already pursued a course at postgraduate level. Therefore, she is not entitled to grant assistance to pursue a second course at postgraduate level.
