Vol. 477 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Éamon Ó Cuív

Ceist:

287 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when all outstanding livestock grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway. [9604/97]

The person concerned is an applicant under the 1996 cattle headage schemes and the 1996 special beef premium scheme. He has been paid £1,803.39 representing 80 per cent advance under the 1996 special beef premium on 10 December 1996.

The delay in making payment under the 1996 cattle headage scheme and making a 20 per cent balancing payment under the 1996 special beef premium scheme is because of increased levels of checks and controls associated with the land parcel identification system (LPIS). The LPIS involves digitising all land parcels submitted by farmers and its purpose is to provide my Department with a database whereby land parcels being claimed for area aid purposes can be located, identified, and have area values and land use attributed. My Department is making every effort to have the outstanding problems sorted out with a view to having payment made within the next week.

Ceist:

289 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when all outstanding livestock grants for 1996 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway. [9606/97]

The person named applied for grants under the 1996 cattle headage scheme, the 1996 suckler cow premium scheme and the ten and 22 month special beef premium schemes.

The delay in making payments under these schemes is due to the increased levels of checks and controls associated with the land parcel identification system (LPIS).

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

296 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made for payment of a beef suckler premium to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the medical evidence submitted on appeal. [9632/97]

This herdowner lodged an appeal with the headage and premia appeals unit concerning the late submission of his 1996 area aid application. This appeal is being considered.

He will be notified in writing of the outcome as soon as his case has been fully examined.
