I propose to take Questions Nos. 50 and 181 together.
Following the decision to relocate the outfall pipe for the proposed treatment works from Rinnashark, I approved Waterford County Council's proposals to undertake land and marine site investigations in connection with alternative outfall arrangements. This will enable the council to further advance the planning of the scheme, including the carrying out of a new environmental impact assessment. The council has recently submitted tender recommendations for the site investigation to my Department which are at present being examined.
Cohesion Fund assistance has been sought for the completion of the planning of the overall project and the construction of the treatment plant. The Commission's decision is awaited.
