Vol. 477 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.

Tony Killeen

Ceist:

107 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Health when a fully equipped cardiac ambulance with defibrillator will be deployed to serve west Clare, including Kilrush and Kilkee. [9689/97]

, Limerick East): I am committed to developing the ambulance service in the Mid-Western Health Board area, including west Clare, and I have provided £950,000 for this purpose since I came into office, including £375,000 which I allocated earlier this year. I understand from the Mid-Western Health Board that this funding has been used to provide additional staff and equipment, including cardiac defibrillators, for its ambulance service and the provision of a fully equipped cardiac ambulance to be based in Ennis is currently being considered.
