Vol. 478 No. 2

Written Answers. - Teacher Appointments.

James Leonard

Ceist:

99 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, there are to provide the services of a remedial teacher to pupils attending St. Patrick's national school, Oram, Castleblayney, County Monaghan. [10820/97]

I am not in a position at present to indicate whether additional remedial teachers will be made available to primary schools for the 1997-8 school year.

My capacity to allocate additional remedial teacher posts in any year is determined by resource availability in that year and the level of competing demand from other special needs areas. The position regarding such allocations for the 1997-8 school year is currently being considered.

In the event of additional remedial posts being allocated, the needs of the school in question will be considered.
