Vol. 479 No. 3

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grants.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

86 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if a higher education grant will be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has been accepted for a higher diploma in an education post-graduate course and who has already participated in a post-graduate course but who did not at the time receive a higher education grant; and if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this person would not be in a position to meet the cost of the fees. [13052/97]

Under the terms of the higher education grant scheme, a grant is not payable in respect of a second period of college attendance on an approved course at any particular level, whether or not the first period was grant-aided. As the person in question has already completed an approved course at post-graduate level, she is ineligible for student support in respect of her attendance at the higher diploma in education course.
