58 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Defence when he intends to delegate all day to day administration from his Department to the branches of the Defence Forces themselves; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15157/97]
Over recent years much of the day to day administration of the Defence Forces formerly carried out in the civil service branches of the Department of Defence has been transferred to the military branches, greatly enhancing the overall efficiency of the organisation.
I am committed to this continuing process, the next phase of which is likely to involve the delegation of certain additional procurement functions to the Naval Service and the Air Corps.
