Vol. 481 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

144 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called to St. Luke's Hospital, Dublin, for treatment in view of the fact that she is in the secondary stages of cancer and her general practitioner has expressed his extreme concern on her condition. [16290/97]

I understand from St. Luke's and St. Anne's Hospital that the person in question is scheduled for admission and commencement of treatment on 13 November 1997. The hospital has stated that if a bed becomes available before that date, it will be offered to this person.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

145 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason so many persons are called to attend a cancer clinic at the County Hospital in County Mayo at the same time; and the reason they then had to wait four and a half hours to be seen and, when finally called, had to wait a further hour undressed for their treatment or examination as in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [16302/97]

As the provision of services and treatment to the person concerned, in this instance, is the responsibility of the Western Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
