Vol. 482 No. 5

Written Answers - Psychological Services.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

140 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science his views on the representations of the Irish Learning Support Association regarding the group assessing the establishment of a psychological services board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18405/97]

I have already announced my intention to introduce a national educational psychological service for children and young people. A planning group to prepare proposals for the introduction of this service has been established and has begun its work. I have asked the group to report early in 1998. The planning group includes representatives from the partners in education, as well as from the Departments of Education and Science, Health and Children and Finance.

I will be glad to receive any submissions the Irish Learning Support Association may wish to make. In addition, the planning group itself will welcome submissions from the association, as well as from all other interested bodies, groups or individuals.
