Vol. 482 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputies Gormley and Sargent — the dissemination of information by the Government on the referendum on Cabinet confidentiality; (2) Deputy Lawlor — the proposals for a £27 million educational complex at Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, put forward by the National College of Industrial Relations, being planned by the Higher Education Authority in the context of the urgent need for a site to accommodate the Blanchardstown Regional Technical College project already sanctioned; (3) Deputy Neville — the extension of the urban renewal scheme to Rathkeale, County Limerick; (4) Deputy Keaveney — the public concern, from a health viewpoint, following the siting of a mobile phone mast in a highly residential area within Moyville, County Donegal; (5) Deputy Jim Higgins — the crisis in the courts following the decision of a number of District Court judges to dismiss hundreds of court cases on 4 November 1997 and the action taken by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform in this regard; (6) Deputy Ring — the reason for the delay in making cattle and sheep headage payments to farmers in County Mayo and whether the delay relates to a problem with the area aid scheme; (7) Deputy Gilmore — the subject matter of Parliamentary Question No. 275 of 14 October 1997; (8) Deputy Durkan — the reasons for the difference in support between applicants for mortgage and rent supplement whereby the former are given little support while the latter receive up to 80 per cent support despite the fact that the former represents the best value for money and (9) Deputy Brendan Smith — the need to advance the new fire station project at Dowra, County Cavan to tender stage.

The matters raised by Deputies Gormley and Sargent, Jim Higgins, Lawlor and Gilmore have been selected for discussion.
