31 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will carry out a survey to establish whether the national governing bodies of sport are complying with the code of ethics for young people; and if he will make it a compliance condition for future funding. [21281/97]
A special sub-committee of the Irish Sports Council which was established in June of this year is examining all issues concerning sport for young people, including the question of the utilisation of the voluntary code of ethics and good practice for children's sport in Ireland by national governing bodies of sport. The sub-committee expects to produce an interim report in due course, inclusive of recommendations as to the most appropriate ways of promulgating the code.
