83 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the plans, if any, he has to reintroduce the domestic tourism marketing initiative for 1998; the funds, if any, which will be available to it in view of the fact that this initiative is of particular value to regional tourism and domestic tourism in 1997 and seems to be showing substantial growth and the regional activities, if any, which are planned under this initiative to benefit the north-west. Bord Fáilte is currently finalising arrangements for its 1998 promotions campaign, including those for the domestic market, and it is hoped to make an announcement before year end.

I have asked Bord Fáilte to work closely with all the regional tourism authorities in drawing up details of the campaign, funding for which will be decided in the context of the 1998 Estimates, in consultation with the other funding partners.
