Ceist:106 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the current progress on the provision of a new Garda station for a district (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [21643/97]
Written Answers. - Garda Stations.
It is proposed to build a new Garda station at this location. A site has recently been purchased and the Office of Public Works is preparing a sketch scheme. It is not possible to say at this stage when this project will commence as it is dependent on overall priorities and the availability of finance.
However, to alleviate the poor working conditions, alternative temporary accommodation has been sought in the town. A premises has been identified as suitable and the Office of Public Works has been requested to negotiate a lease.
