53 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will provide financial assistance to the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals who are struggling to continue to care for abused and abandoned animals due to lack of finance. [2966/98]
Last December I made a grant payment of £100,000 to the DSPCA, bringing to £200,000 the total paid to the society by my Department since September 1995. This indicates very tangible recognition of the work done by this organisation. My Department will meet representatives of the society at an early date to discuss future financing of its activities.
