57 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties encountered by the farming community in making telephone contact with the area aid unit in his Department; and the steps, if any, he intends to take to resolve this matter. [2921/98]

With the area aid unit of my Department processing over 134,000 applications annually, it is inevitable that some difficulty will be encountered by farmers in attempting to make telephone contact. However, this matter is being kept under review on an ongoing basis with a view to providing the best possible service.
