Home helps are, for the most part, engaged on a casual or part-time basis. A multiplicity of voluntary organisations are involved in the provision of the service and the rate of payment varies considerably throughout the country. Information on the number of part-time home helps who are paid over £30 per week at any given time is not readily available. However, this information is being collated and will be forwarded to the Deputy when available. The salary scale for full-time home helps with effect from 1 July 1997 is in the range of £212.98 to £225.19.
