Vol. 486 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

173 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason payment in respect of 32 heifers as submitted was not made to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [3375/98]

The person named applied under the 1997 agrimonetary compensation scheme on a total of 32 animals and payment has issued in respect of 29. Eligibility has since been determined in respect of another animal for which payment can be expected shortly.

It was a condition of the scheme that animals must have been in the ownership and possession of herdowners prior to 1 April 1997 and in this context herdowners who applied for compensation on more than 15 animals were required to submit supporting documentation with their applications.

On 20 November 1997 and again on 3 December 1997 the local livestock office requested the person named to submit the necessary ownership proof for the remaining two animals to enable further processing of his application. To date, this has not been done.
