184 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance if he will apply the proposed tax incentive scheme for the upper Shannon region to north Leitrim; if he has received a submission from the Manorhamilton Community Council regarding this matter; if his attention has been drawn to the need for these measures in the north Leitrim area if it is to achieve economic growth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have not received a submission from Manorhamilton Community Council regarding the proposed pilot renewal scheme. As the Deputy is aware, I annouced in my budget speech that I would look carefully at the feasibility of such a scheme for parts of the Upper Shannon region. While the matter is being examined, it is too early to indicate what areas will be included. It will also be necessary to get approval from the EU Commission for the scheme.
