Ceist:248 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when it is expected that a contract to build the theatre in Letterkenny will be awarded. [3034/98]
Written Answers. - Letterkenny Theatre Project.
The Deputy will be aware that under my Department's cultural development incentives scheme an offer of funding, up to a maximum of £1.5 million and subject to compliance with a number of conditions, has been made in respect of the proposed theatre in Letterkenny. I have impressed upon the promoters the urgent and absolute necessity that they be able to comply with the conditions of the scheme so as to be certain of the development and completion of the theatre project within the timeframe of the current Operational Programme for Tourism. The issue of appointing a contractor is primarily one for Donegal County Council.
