264 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform on whose authority was the town of Milford closed off to the public when workmen arrived from ESAT to erect a mast and antenna on 16 January 1998. [3030/98]
I have been advised by the Garda authorities that when they are notified of construction work which has implications for traffic and public safety, they take whatever action is required to ensure continued traffic flow and public safety. Accordingly, in order to facilitate the replacement of the telecommunications mast at Milford Garda Station on 16 January 1998, traffic was diverted around the lower section of the main street for the duration of the work.
