303 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the steps, if any, he will take to implement the section on natural resources contained in the report, Tackling Sporting Change in Ireland, which was published by the Department of Education in early 1997. [3259/98]

The proposals on natural resources are one element of the section on sports facilities and natural resources included in the report referred to by the Deputy.

I am currently reviewing the sports capital schemes administered by my Department so as to ensure an effective and planned approach to the development of sports facilities throughout the country.

Meanwhile, the waymarked ways which are an important aspect of our use of our natural resources, continue to be upgraded and developed. I will further consider issues relating to natural resources in the context of the overall development of recreational policy by my Department.
