Vol. 487 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Youth Work Advisory Committee.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

3 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of times the Youth Work Advisory Committee has met since he has taken office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3718/98]

The National Youth Work Advisory Committee was established under the Youth Work Act, 1997 with a remit "to advise and consult with the Minister" in relation to youth work. The committee, which consists of nominees of the Minister for Education and Science, representatives of Government Departments and agencies, and representatives of voluntary youth work orgnisations nominated by the National Youth Council of Ireland, held its inaugural meeting on 24 June 1997, and held a further meeting on February 1998. I am awaiting a report of that meeting. I understand the committee proposes to meet again at the end of March.
