Vol. 487 No. 6

Written Answers - Health Centres.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

200 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Health and Children the current position regarding the North-Eastern Health Board for the provision of a health care centre at Cootehill, County Cavan; if the allocation for this building has been made to the North-Eastern Health Board; if so, the amount of the allocation for 1998; and when construction work will begin on this project. [4672/98]

The provision of health centres in the Cavan area is a matter for the North-Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

The position in relation to the proposed development in Cootehill is that the North-Eastern Health Board has just recently received notification from Cavan County Council of its decision to grant planning permission for the development.

I have not yet made decisions on the allocation of available capital funds for 1998, but I hope to do so in the near future. It must be remembered, however, that all health centre developments requiring financial support from my Department's resources are considered in the context of the available capital resources and competing demands on those resources.
