Vol. 487 No. 6

Written Answers - Hospital Accommodation.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

217 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received a request from the Southern Health Board for funding for an extension to a community hospital (details supplied) in County Cork; if he will sanction the capital and revenue funding necessary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4915/98]

My Department has been notified of a resolution passed by the Southern Health Board at a meeting on 5 January this year seeking an extension to Kanturk community hospital.

The Southern Health Board has a number of capital developments in relation to services for older people which I will endeavour to support on a priority basis as resources permit. Accordingly, progress on the proposed extension to Kanturk community hospital will depend on the priority attached to this project by the board having regard to its other capital needs.
