Vol. 487 No. 6

Written Answers - Teacher Appointments.

John Bruton

Ceist:

336 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will appoint a remedial teacher to serve the needs of St. Oliver's post primary school, Oldcastle, County Meath. [4700/98]

John V. Farrelly

Ceist:

348 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve the appointment of a remedial teacher for a school (details supplied) in County Meath in view of the fact that they applied in 1994 and there are 788 students in the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4943/98]

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

358 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to an application for an ex-quota remedial teacher for St. Oliver's post primary school, Oldcastle, County Meath; if his attention has been drawn to the urgent need for this appointment; and when this position will be sanctioned. [5001/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 336, 348 and 358 together.

I am sure that the Deputies will appreciate that there are many competing demands for increased funding in all sectors of education. These demands are considered within the overall budgetary constraints. I can assure the Deputies that the position of the schools in question will be kept under review and will be considered when next it is possible to allocate additional ex-quota remedial posts.
