Vol. 487 No. 6

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

151 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will re-examine an application for ten month beef premium by a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and when this will be paid. [4705/98]

The person named applied for the ten month special beef premium on 8 December 1997 in respect of 18 animals which he declared as having been born in March 1996. As animals under this scheme were required to have been born between 1 April 1996 and 30 April 1997, the application in question was not accepted due to the animals ineligibility on age grounds.

The person named was advised accordingly by letter dated 5 February 1998.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

152 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is being refused his 1997 cattle headage payment in view of the fact that he lives in the county and only worked away for a period of nine to ten weeks on a temporary job. [4719/98]

The person named will be paid his full entitlement under the 1997 cattle headage scheme within the next two weeks. The question of residency is not now an issue.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

154 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when he will reintroduce the installation aid grant for young farmers; the conditions applying to applicants; the amount of grant payable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4888/98]

My Department is in the process of drawing up a scheme of installation aid targeted towards smaller farmers. This process will involve meetings with the farming organisations to enable their views to be taken into account in the drawing up of the revised scheme. When this has been completed the revised scheme will then be submitted for approval to the Department of Finance and the EU Commission.
