I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Marian McGennis — the up-to-date position regarding the provision of independent counsel to represent rape victims at criminal trials, the legislative or other changes necessary to implement this measure, and the probable timescale; (2) Deputy Neville — the need to provide 31 residential places and 42 day places to meet the requirements of the mentally handicapped in the mid-west region; (3) Deputy Gilmore — the inclusion of an age bar in some public sector job advertisements while legislation is before the Oireachtas to eliminate employment discrimination on grounds of age; (4) Deputy Michael Kitt — the need to review the means test for the nursing home subvention; (5) Deputy Durkan — the withdrawal of farm retirement pension from a person in County Kildare on the basis that the transferee was in university; (6) Deputy Creed — the urgent need for Údarás na Gaeltachta to secure a new industry for the vacant factory space in Ballingeary, County Cork; (7) Deputy Shatter — the urgent need to commence the construction of the Luas line from Sandyford to Dublin city centre.

The matters raised by Deputies Durkan, Neville, Michael Kitt and Gilmore have been selected for discussion.
