Ceist:

166 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have arrangements made for an early appointment for surgery for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who is urgently in need of an ear operation. [7983/98]

The provision of medical treatment in this instance is the responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

167 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have arrangements made for the admittance to hospital of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7984/98]

The provision of medical treatment in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the Midland Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter or urgency.
