274 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science whether he will accede to a request for a new lease in relation to the Department's property formerly occupied by a company (details supplied) in Dublin 3; and if he will make a statement on the latest position in regard to this liquidation. My primary responsibility as regards the premises concerned is to protect the public interest in it as a publicly owned asset. In doing so it is also my objective to ensure the continuing use of the premises as a sport-leisure facility. I am not satisfied that I can discharge my responsibility or meet that objective by entering into a lease with the company, which is now in receivership and to which a liquidator has been appointed. I consider that the appropriate course to adopt is to regain possession of the property and to enter a new agreement with an appropriate tenant for the letting of the property as a sport-leisure facility. To achieve vacant possession in the property, a notice to quit has been served on my behalf on all parties concerned with the property, including the company.
