66 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when a person (details supplied) in County Waterford, who is a pensioner from the forestry service, will be paid his arrears of pension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7989/98]
I assume that the pension arrears referred to by the Deputy in relation to the person referred to relate to the announcement by the Minister for Finance in November, 1997, where sanction was granted for increases in pension rates for certain Public Service pensioners under the local bargaining clause.
On the question as to whether this increase can be applied to forestry workers, clarification is currently being sought from the Department of Finance.
