109 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Defence if he will grant permission to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo as a gesture of good will to serve in the force until 30 September 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8103/98]

Defence Force Regulations prescribe the retirement age for members of An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil as 60 years of age. These regulations are of general application and I regret therefore that it is not open to me to make exceptions in individual cases.
