Vol. 489 No. 4
19 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the plans, if any, he has to appoint an Irish resident Ambassador to Mexico. [8230/98]
59 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has concluded his review of Ireland's diplomatic representation overseas; if he will consider the establishment of a resident Embassy in Turkey; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8075/98]
61 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will consider the appointment of consuls-general in Edinburgh and Cardiff. [8228/98]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 19, 59 and 61 together.
I have not yet completed my review of Ireland's diplomatic representation overseas. The position remains that both Mexico and Turkey are high on our list of priorities for new embassies. There are also arguments in favour of opening consulates in Scotland and Wales in view of our close relations with them.
