Vol. 489 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

100 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the balance of his 1997 cattle headage and premia grants. [8322/98]

Before payment can issue, all of the forage area declared by the person concerned has to be validated by the land parcel identification system.

This has now been completed and balancing payments should issue to the person concerned within the next two weeks.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

101 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his 1993 and 1995 beef premia. [8323/98]

The person registered under the herd number quoted applied on 56 animals under the January/February 1993 special beef premium schemes. He was paid £1,318.25 on 30 August 1994 for 25 of those animals, i.e. 15 livestock units, as he did not lodge an area aid application in that year under this herd number. He was paid on a further four animals on 22 January 1997 when it was decided that an area aid application lodged under another herd number included his acreage and the inclusion of the further four animals combined with the 61 animals applied by the herdowner who lodged the area aid application did not exceed the overall 90 limit. He was also paid extensification premium of £764.44 on 13 January 1997 on those 29 animals.

The person named also applied under the special beef premium schemes on 58 animals on 3 March 1995. He was paid £2,197.00 on 29 March 1996 in respect of 25 animals, i.e. 15 livestock units, as he did not lodge an area aid application under the herd number quoted in that year either.

Difficulties have arisen in this case as to whether the herd number in question was being farmed separately from the herd number under which area aid applications were lodged in 1993 and 1995. The situation is being examined at present with a view to ensuring that the terms and conditions governing premia payments are adhered to. It is hoped to reach a decision on this matter shortly.
