Vol. 489 No. 7

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ring — the need to make funds available to save the Stella Maris secondary school at Ballycastle, County Mayo, from closure; (2) Deputy Lawlor — the anomalous position of payments for caretakers in primary schools by comparison with the procedures for caretakers in second level schools of similar size who enjoy higher emoluments and benefits; (3) Deputy Roche — the need to sanction the purchase by County Wicklow VEC of a site for a new second level school at Kilcoole, County Wicklow, in view of the fact that the site cost has risen from £50,000 to £1.3 million as a result of the delays; (4) Deputy Jim Higgins — the need to reappraise the effectiveness of Operation Lifesaver and other traffic control measures in view of the ongoing high level of carnage on the roads; (5) Deputy Finucane — the need for the appointment of a remedial teacher for Gaelscoil Ó Dobhair, Monagea national school and Ahalin national school in County Limerick; (6) Deputy Timmins — the need to provide funding for swimming pools in Wicklow town and Arklow; (7) Deputy Broughan — the need to discuss the method of publication of the reports of the Commission on the National Minimum Wage and of the National Employment Plan.

The matters raised by Deputies Broughan, Jim Higgins, Roche and Finucane have been selected for discussion.
