Vol. 490 No. 3

Written Answers. - Court Poor Box.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

75 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the amounts paid into courts' poor boxes for each of the years from 1995 to 1997 at Kells, Kilcock and Maynooth District Courts; the charities which benefited; and the amounts in each case. [10150/98]

The District Court areas of Kells and Kilcock come within the clerkship of Trim and Naas District Court offices respectively. Maynooth is included in the Kilcock District Court area. The amounts paid into Naas and Trim District Court offices in respect of donations to the court poor box in the years 1995 to 1997 are set out in the following table.

The Deputy should note that these figures do not include contributions which in accordance with the judge's order were paid direct to a charitable organisation or transmitted through the Garda Síochána or the Probation and Welfare Service, which I understand was the practice in Kells and Kilcock District Courts.
