Vol. 490 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax Returns.

John V. Farrelly

Ceist:

168 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Meath who has sent in his tax returns for 1996/97 in December 1997 is constantly being informed that they have not been sent back; if he will have this matter investigated; if he will issue a statement stating these returns are in order; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10619/98]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they have no record of receiving the taxpayer's 1996-97 income tax return. In the last month two reminders requesting submission of the return would have issued to him. The inspector of taxes has had no response to these reminders.

I am further informed that the commissioners' records show that tax returns in respect of the taxpayer for the 1990-91, 1992-93 and 1994-95 tax years are also outstanding.
