Vol. 490 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ministerial Staff.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

257 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the advisers, programme managers or public relation officers attached to her office; whether those persons are civil servants or private sector employees; when they were employed for this work; the costs associated with these persons; and whether their work is full or part-time. [10710/98]

There is no programme manager attached to my office. I have a special policy adviser on a full-time basis who is a civil servant on allowance with an annual salary of £46,663.

Four civil servants in my Department are involved, inter alia, with the provision of information to the general public and to the media concerning the wide range of activities in which my Department is engaged. They also have responsibilities in relation to quality customer service and requests under the freedom of information legislation. In addition, I have employed a press adviser since 27 April 1998 on a full-time basis who is a public servant on secondment at a salary of £43,000.
