Vol. 490 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Convention.

Ceist:

267 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has undertaken a review of the operation of the Dublin Convention; if he will provide details of problems, if any, encountered in the operation of the Convention; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10577/98]

The Dublin Convention (Implementation) Order, 1997, came into operation on 1 September 1997. I am satisfied that it has operated in an effective manner in this short period but I can assure the Deputy that its operation will continue to be monitored and when and where necessary it will be reviewed both within my Department and at European level.
