Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Ceist:

310 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide a progress report in relation to the proposed extension required to St. Patrick's classical school, Navan, County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10658/98]

The post primary building unit of my Department is currently awaiting the stage 4 and 5 submission — preparation of tender documentation — for the proposed extension to St. Patrick's classical school, Navan, County Meath, from the school's design team. As soon as this documentation is received and confirmed as satisfactory by the technical staff of the building unit, the question of allowing tenders to be invited for the project will be considered.

Ceist:

311 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has evaluated the feasibility study on the options for the future of St. Oliver's post primary school, Oldcastle, County Meath; if he will provide a new school on the site beside St. Oliver's School which seems to be the best option; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10659/98]

My Department's post primary building unit has recently received the feasibility study in connection with the provision of new accommodation for St. Oliver's post primary school, Oldcastle, County Meath. This study, which contains a number of possible options in respect of the school, is at present being assessed by the technical staff of the Department. As soon as this assessment has been completed, it is intended to arrange a meeting with representatives of the County Meath VEC and the board of management.
