Ceist:24 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the content of the correspondence, if any, he has received from the European Commission in relation to the Glen of the Downs, County Wicklow. [10476/98]

The European Commission in a letter dated 5 February 1998 indicated that two complaints had been registered concerning the proposed improvement of the N11 road at Kilmacanogue-Glen of the Downs, County Wicklow.
The complaints relate mainly to environmental concerns about the proposed Kilmacanogue to Glen of the Downs dual carriageway. The response of the Irish authorities will be transmitted to the Commission very shortly.
