Vol. 490 No. 5

Written Answers. - House Prices.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

57 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, his Department has to deal with the substantial and constant increase in the price of housing; his views on whether this is causing serious public concern; the average house price in Dublin and all other areas over the past five years; the average increase over the same period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10493/98]

I refer to my reply to Question No. 19 on today's Order Paper outlining the measures being taken to address the issue of house prices as announced in the Government's "Action on House Prices", copies of which have been supplied to each Oireachtas member and are also available in the Oireachtas Library.

Details of average house prices in Dublin and other areas for the five year period 1993-97 are contained in my Department's Annual Housing Statistics Bulletin, 1997, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
