70 Ms McManus asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, arising from his address to the Local Authority Members Association in Rosslare, County Wexford, he will outline the main elements of his proposed remuneration package for councillors; when he expects to have a Government decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I will shortly announce the outcome of a review of councillors' expenses allowances which will give rise to significant improvements. I will also make an announcement in the near future on the question of a once-off gratuity for long serving councillors who retire before the next local elections.
