Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Farmers' Charter.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

202 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the views of the review group, established under the Charter of Rights for Farmers, on the position regarding its implementation. [11932/98]

The review group on the Charter of Rights for Farmers has not made any formal submission to me in relation to the overall implementation of the charter. I am aware of the deliberations of the review group, which comprises representatives of farming organisations and relevant staff of the Department, on the specific issues which are raised in the course of its quarterly meetings. The observance of targets under the charter for the many premia and headage schemes are also kept under review by me.

My Department remains committed to observing the targets set down in the charter, and to improving on them where possible, in pursuance of our objective to provide the highest achievable levels of quality to the Department's clients. This commitment has been further reinforced by the launch of the quality customer service action plan 1998-2000.
